Today we are talking about hCG weight loss. Many of you have heard about this; it is certainly controversial, there’s a lot of misunderstandings about it, but it has transformed into something different than it used to be. HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, which is a hormone that both men and women make a small amount of every day. When a woman gets pregnant her levels increase significantly. hCG is partly responsible for controlling the metabolism of the growing fetus.
I’ve been using this for weight loss for quite a few years now, and it’s actually been around since the 1940’s and 1950’s, at which time Dr. Simeons started using it for weight loss in men and women. We find that hCG increases the signaling from the brain to the fat reserves to tell the fat reserves to mobilize fat. This is what fat reserves are actually supposed to be used for – as a storage repository for calories that we can pull from, like a calorie bank, when we need to. However, due to stress, toxins, hormonal imbalances, etc, this signaling breaks down.
When you do the hCG diet, you do a lowered-calorie diet, which amounts to 1000 calories a day. This is a medically-supervised diet, during which you meet with the doctor every week for a check-in, where we weigh you and measure your fat percentage and muscle percentage. On average, most people lose about ½ pound a day (men typically lose more!). The program is for a minimum of 3 weeks, and a maximum of 6 weeks. If it’s done correctly, with the lab work to support the functions of all the other parts and pieces of the body, it cam be pretty amazing for losing quite a few pounds and quite a few inches. That alone can detox the body and makes so many other things start to get better.
I’m a huge fan, I’ve done it myself, and so have my friends and family. I’ve seen a lot of patients seriously transform themselves with this program. It is pretty phenomenal. Come check it out and see for yourself!
I look forward to seeing you here at Bloom.
